The Process of Technology Commercialization From Four Perspectives: Academia/Research; Industry; Entrepreneurial; and Venture Capital

Panelists:

  • Amber Begtrup, PhD, is a board-certified clinical molecular geneticist and Senior Clinical Scientist at the genetic testing company GeneDX. In her career, Dr. Begtrup has explored the molecular basis of disease. Her current interest include candidate disease gene discovery and disorders related to immune system dysfunction.

  • Josh Nickols, PhD, MBA, is an Executive-in-Residence with the seed stage venture fund at CincyTech. He is responsible for interfacing with portfolio companies, evaluating technology, and identifying new life science opportunities. Prior to CincyTech, Dr. Nickols was founder and CEO of InvisionHeart Inc., acquired in 2017 by Nuline Telemetry Holdings.

  • John Rice, Director of Life Sciences at CincyTech, has 27 years of venture investing and 13 years of research and R&D management experience in biomedical science. He is a published scientist and inventor. Rice has been cofounder and managing partner of Triathlon Medical Ventures; a managing director of Senmed Medical Ventures; and involved in research and business development with Battelle Memorial Institute.

  • Andrew Wooten, MS, MTM, is Vice President of Cincinnati Children's Center for Center for Technology Commercialization, where he has the responsibility for the development and commercialization of all Cincinnati Children's intellectual property, including faculty engagement, research partnerships, licensing, and new ventures. Wooten was the founding executive director of Baylor College of Medicine's Innovation Development Center.
